Hey folks! Guess what day it is… Yep, it’s hump day. (: And now it also means Mid Week Tease day! Mid Week Tease is put together by the hostess with the mostess, Sandra Bunino. Authors participating in Mid Week Tease are sharing parts of their stories that are anywhere from being a WIP to a published piece.

I’m still new to Mid Week Tease and happy to be participating! Today I’m sharing some hump day, sexy goodness from The Encounter.
The Encounter, which is the first story in a series called The Agency I’m working on, is in line waiting for edits and cover and such, so please keep in mind this tease is unedited. The following is a look into a part in the beginning of the story. Zen is meeting the new employee who he’ll have to mentor.

Conversation in the office stopped. With a knock, Zen pushed open the door and strolled into the room. The heels of his snakeskin boots clicked on the wood floor. He made sure to keep a stern expression on his face even though the brief bit he’d heard and saw of the rookie impressed him.
The new kid clenched his teeth together upon his entrance. The muscles along his jaw twitched. Though his eyes remained cool, his eyebrows lifted a fraction and his respiration increased. He emitted a heady male scent.
Interesting, Zen thought, then silently wondered why the guy was fighting his reaction to him. Another thing he found curious, the ‘fish’ seemed really familiar. Where’d he know him from? His recollection of the new guy wasn’t from anything recent, that much he knew. Maybe he was someone he’d met during his time in the military.
“My, my, my. This is new,” Owen remarked with a deep, quick laugh. He leaned his imposing black body back in his chair, crossing his arms over his stomach. The sleeves of his plum colored dress shirt were rolled up revealing his muscular forearms.
His boss was the kind of man one wouldn’t want to meet in a dark alley, and he should know. The first time he’d seen the black giant with wide shoulders he thought he was done for. It was the middle of the night, and Owen, backlit by a dim street lamp, made an imposing sight. He believed the man was there to finish what the others had started—poke and prod him some more until he bled to death. The memory chilled him. He shoved it into a black box and pushed it back into a dark corner in his mind. He didn’t feel like having a nightmare that evening.
